KATHY FLANN
EDITORIAL SERVICES
With over twenty years of experience teaching writing at universities and conferences – both in the U.S. and the U.K. – I am a highly skilled reader, editor, and coach. I've served as a program director for several creative writing graduate programs, and I currently teach fiction and humor writing workshops within the MA program at Johns Hopkins University. I serve as an advocate for writers at every stage of the process, from conception and first drafts all the way to publication and marketing.
First and foremost, I am a story enthusiast. There are so many great stories out there, and I love to help people shape the narratives they are burning to share. Often, the idea is there, and the would-be writer isn’t sure how to get started. Or perhaps, there’s a full draft already, but it isn’t quite working. Something is missing, but what the heck is it? Trying to figure out the answer to this question can drive a person to distraction.
I have taught or coached writers who eventually published their work in journals and magazines, gained admittance to MFA programs, published books, and even landed on best-sellers’ lists or had their books made into films. What’s your dream? Let’s collaborate to make it a reality.
